DDye,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2359466/Taking-omega-3-fish-oil-supplements-increase-risk-aggressive-prostate-cancer-70.html

Let Bill Faloon have at it!

thanks

PS. I still take six per mail of LEF Super-Omega 3 product 1482.  I would not be around

if I didn't do that.

Nice to hear from you.

My favorite is the Vegetarian DHA, of which my dose is 5-6 daily.

I typo'd my first post. It should read "six per meal" not "six per mail".

According to Dr Barry Sears, one needs to take enough "weapons grade" (60% EPA+DHA,

molecular distilled fish oil), and LEF is the best one, to lower inflammation.  He says to take

your Triglycerides blood work number (TG) and divide by your HDL.. and that should

be between 1-2.  IF over two, you have inflammation and need more fish oil to bring it down.

If it is < 1, then you are taking too much fish oil, and need to reduce. He says stubborn

cases need 10G of EPA+DHA per day, and since Super Omega3 is 60%, that means

about 18G per day or six per meal.

Years ago, I only took 4 per day of LEF Super-Omega3 (label rec amt), and after

reading Dr Sears, my TG/HDL ratio was a 6!  I am sure I was plaque-ing  up my arteries then.

About 5-6 years ago, LEF reported on the Israeli study that 2oz of Pomegranate juice

reduced existing plaque by 35% per year.  I started taking LEF pomegranate pills

ever since (and 6 per meal fish oil).  Two years ago, Mayo Clinic replaced my

aortic heart valve with a mechanical one.  Since they had to open me up, they

were also prepared to do a coronary bypass, instead they found my heart arteries were

"pristine clean" and no bypass was needed.  I told my heart surgeon about LEF and

their fish oil and pomegranate.

Years ago, I took too much calcium citrate (8 per day). That formed a giant calcium phosphate

kidney stone. Didn't even know I had it. Calcium level was normal 9.5 on blood labs. I then started

taking sodium & Potassium bicarbonate to neutralize excess body acid formed by metabolism

and measuring urine pH.. Goal was pH 6.5.  Long story short, the sodium and potassium

ions in the urine, ion-exchanged with the calcium phosphate stone, slowly changing it to

potassium and sodium phosphate. Those are soluble, so the stone slowly dissolved.

It broke free, plugged the left kidney (still didn't hurt) output,  cut into the kidney, and

pumped urine into the blood, instant sepsis. Local hospital didn't catch the sepis

right away. Put me in surgery to put in a stent to push the stone back into the

kidney to unpressurize it. Sepis went wild when I was under.  I didn't wake up for

8 days, was on 15Liter of O2. The sepsis (MSSA bacteria) had eaten holes in my aortic

heart valve. I only had 1/3 or so normal blood flow.. Kidneys went into shutdown from this.

Local hospital and Drs, said heart was fine and could not figure it out.  I had enough and

went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  This is the holy land of medicine.  Anyway, I am

all fixed up now, back at work for 2 years, and have not had a single sick day since.  The first doctor

to see me at Mayo, picked up my wrist, and said "you have a water hammer pulse,

holes in your aortic valve".. Wow.

Dayna - thanks for the link to the rebuttal article - it was very well-written and complete.
I especially appreciate LEF's specialty of knowing what blood levels will be for differing kinds and levels
of consumption.
I can't understand how such a poor paper gets through peer review!

Thank you DDye for the post. I went immediately to my last results and happy to find the omega-3 index at 9% (it ranged 9-13% over 3 years). My lab gives 8% as lowest index value.

Dr Myers (medical oncologist and PCa survivor) take on this:

(at the end of the video he said he was going for a sardine lunch celebrating the study ... ;-))
