Or, NOT so well being is more like it. The planet Earth is ALREADY way beyond it`s sustainable human population in my and other`s opinions. Global warming, massive starve offs, and little or NO place to live is ALREADY a fact of life in countries including Babgledesh. Many people now live on the water because there is NO place available on land for them to live. And the inevitable wars going on now over land and resources such as water are happening NOW. People used to be concerned about these issues. I can NOT recall even one polititician willing to even discuss this issue in the last 10 years.
You are called a racist if you dare to. Oh well, whatever. YOUR thoughts on this issue please.   ...Oscar

Oh, here is one of many websites that discusses human population growth if you are not too bored with it all to learn about it:

       https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population#Milestones_by_the_billions

Oh, Gee Whiz: I just learned the U. N. CELEBRATED when the world`s population reached 5 BILLION people. This was called " The Day of 5 Billion " and was officially celebrated by the United Nations on July 11, 1987. The population is now well over 7 BILLION. A very short 26 years later. That is an additional 2 BILLION people for scientists who are unable to count, in 26 short years. It seems some are so mathematically challenged when it comes to simple realities. And the UN also.

Oscar, I like you man, but please consider an alternative viewpoint:  read Julian L. Simon's book The Ultimate Resource 2.  The population will ultimately level off, but with more people we will have more brains and hence more ideas to solve problems.  The environmental doomsayers have been proven wrong time and time again.  The theory of global warming has been discredited, as has "peak oil."  But I will give you one actual problem to worry about:  an asteroid strike on earth.

Hi Transpower, These so called predictions are already a fact of life for much of the world`s population. These starve offs occur with increasing frequency. You simply no longer hear about them. Also desertification is a fact of life in much of Africa. A huge lake that once existed is all but gone now in Africa. Those people living on the water in Bangladesh exist and there are many of them. The oceans, sea level is rising due to global warming. The ice caps are melting at an ever increasing rate and that is why the sea level continues to rise. There is no TECHNO FIX and never will be. The so called GREEN REVOLUTION in crop increases led to an inevitable rise in population in the areas dependent on those food resources and the starvation is now worse than ever in these regions of the world. You simply no longer hear about these hopeless situations. So, in essence those predictions you say have been discredited have in fact come true already, and are now the extremely harsh conditions much of the world`s population NOW lives and dies with. You simply no longer hear about it on television.   ...Oscar

Here is an interesting website called WORLDOMETERS keeping track of some of what I am discussing even as I speak, so to speak:  http://www.worldometers.info/

The only idiot I see there is Walter Williams. Those polar ice caps are melting and the sea level is rising along with all the other things I discussed: Desertivication, starvation, global warming, loss of drinkable water, never ending series of wars and on and on.   ...Oscar

Read about lake Chad here and this report was posted 5 years ago. The same thing is true for many lakes in Africa. Link here:

   http://www.circleofblue.org/waternews/2008/world/vanishing-lake-chad-a-water-crisis-in-central-africa/

Update on Lake Chad here dated 2011 in case you thought some techno fix solved this problem:

     http://mg.co.za/article/2011-02-15-climate-change-and-africas-vanishing-lake/

Hey, but this is all a bunch of non-sense according to Walter Williams. Some silly **** whacko environmentalists make up to upset people. And you buy into what this Walter Williams idiot has to say ?

Short extract from above link. I don`t want you to have to strain your brain on this one:

For Fatime’s anxious mother Halime Djime, climate change theory means nothing, but its impact on her family is painfully clear. “My two youngest children are dead,” she says. “There is no food. It has got worse and worse.

The lake has dried up and the trees have died. Our camels no longer produce milk—they have no grass to eat. We see animal carcasses everywhere. It is very dry.”

The 29-year-old, who lives on the equivalent of R2 a day, travelled for nearly a week to carry her daughter to a feeding clinic in the Chadian town Mao. After a month on milk medicine Fatime still can’t stomach solids and weighs 6kg—a third of what she should weigh.

The rise in the sea levels effect on Bangladesh is discussed here:

   http://www.irinnews.org/Report/75094/BANGLADESH-Rising-sea-levels-threaten-agriculture

My postings about this and the other issues I have been discussing in this thread are in response to any and all who claim that the problem of overpopulation is nonsense and that the predictions made regarding this problem have no merit. I do say: Those predictions are now a fact of life for many millions of people and are only getting worse as time goes by.   ...Oscar

Cicadas don't joke around.  I'm one of the approx. 32000 "distinguished scientists/engineers" who signed the petition against global warming alarmism:  http://www.petitionproject.org/

My sincere respect to both sides of the issue. Here is my two cents ...

This has always perplexed and bothered me to some degree -- What is humankind going to do with all of our trash/garbage/rubbish produced?  I mean seriously, land fills can not be the answer forever.  To date, debris floats in enormous patches in the ocean. [LINK OUT] Sea life are dying because of our trash. Beaches look like wastelands. [LINK OUT]  We live and die and leave behind our garbage for the next generation to deal with.  The aftermath of hurricanes and tornadoes cause devastation that produces a garbage-soup of debris.  Where does all that go?  ... and on, and on, and on ...  A person can't walk  anywhere anymore and not see a piece of trash thrown here and there.  Go walk down your street and see if you can walk a mile without seeing a piece of trash. You cant!  Even in some of the remote places in nature, scientists find cigarette butts! -- They don't decompose.  Most of the garbage humankind produces doesn't decompose but sits above or underground or floats in earth's bodies of water forever.  This is a problem no matter if we're over or under populated because humankind's garbage doesn't go away with each generation. It accumulates.
