My surgical pathology report for Stage I, estrogen receptor positive breast cancer in2010 said this:

"Invasive ductal carcinoma, with focal ductal carcinoma-in-situ (WHO classification), with multifocal moderate chronic inflammation (surgical margins uninvolved)".

Does the "multifocal moderate chronic inflammation" phrase mean that overall I have chronic inflammation?  I am planning now on getting tested, but curious if they found this in the breast tissue if it's a sign of an overall condition.

Thanks

Welcome to the Forums, Debbe.

Your path report is only an analysis of the tissue examined and is not an indicator of systemic inflammation.  A blood test for C-reactive protein would evaluate the latter.

Thank you.  I'll get the CRP test.  Are there any other blood tests worth getting for inflammation

There are cytokines including interleukin 1beta and interleukin 6 that can be elevated, although interleukin 6 can also be involved in suppressing inflammation.  Life Extension offers an inflammation blood test panel http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/ItemLC100007/Inflammation-Panel-Blood-Test.html that targets rheumatoid arthritis.

Inflammation is a common pathological finding in a lesion.
