A "polypill" combining a statin with blood pressure drugs could prevent thousands of heart attacks and strokes every year, according to researchers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18883163

This Polypill news story is in all the British newspapers today. While it would of course be great if we can cut the amount of heart attacks and strokes, it once again just pharmaceutical companies looking to treat the symptoms of poor lifestyle. I won't pretend that I always eat correctly (but I'm always trying to move towards eating better) but my worry is these drugs will just give permission for people to eat a diet of fast food and live a sedentary lifestyle. Plus, who knows what side effects this polypill would have and the long term impacts of these.

Thoughts anyone?

It really could help prevent a lot of cardiovascular events.  Your concern is valid, however, there are a lot of people who won't improve their lifestyle no matter what, and popping a pill is sometimes even too much effort for them.
