My wife and I take 5 mg of naltrexone each night to support our immune system.  This is called LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) supplementation.  An internet search for "LDN" yields sites that explain how LDN is used to prevent/treat cancer, autoimmune system problems, etc.

Very interesting infor. I have never heard of LDN. May I ask how old are you and for what if any benefits have you seen with LDN. There are no side effects, but does it require any special precautions, blood work etc. No interactions with other drugs or alcohol? It seems it may benefit many different type of patients especially MS pts. Any other infor you may care to share would be appreciated. Thanks very much for the post.

My wife and I are both 64.  Naltrexone (50mg a day) is normally prescribed by a MD for alcoholics who want to stop drinking.  When taking naltrexone the "alcohol high" receptors in the brain are blocked so that drinking alcohol doesn't make you high.

I put one pill in 50 ml of water, let it dissolve and take 5ml of the liquid each night.  Keep the water/naltrexone solution in refrigerator between doses.  One dose (5ml) of LDN means one 50 mg pill produces enough LDN to last 10 days.  Ten pills cost $16.80 or $1.68 per pill or $0.158 (15.8 cents) per dose of LDN.

See http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/ and http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/ldn_and_ms.htm for more information.  Neither my wife nor I has MS.  You can also Google "naltrexone".

There is a very popular 'internet' doc that has recommended LDN as a treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis.  My 20 son has RA... not using LDN, but it does sound interesting in my limited research.  Difficult to find much info...

Would not hesitate at all to start my son on LDN. 3 mg-4.5mg  between 9-11PM. Google LDN and you will obtain all info you need, even RX MDs. GL

http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9194 is a forum series of posts if someone had RA.  It's a long seeries (several pages) but toward the end you will find a good treatment for RA.

I don't have RA so don't know if LDN or the linked post is a better answer.

Thanks coochie and rasarver for the input!  Its probably been a year since I looked at LDN information, including from the LDN.org site listed above.  I will look into the others now as well.

I am a 55 year old female that is trying to keep a pre cancerous condition, which has been removed twice, at bay.  I started taking LDN at 4.5 ml per night 18 months ago. When I began taking LDN I also had severe pain in both elbows from bone spurs, migraine headaches, re-occuring boils, and terrible bladder control issues.  I no longer have to take any pain pills for my elbows, the pain is gone.  I have only had one boil flare up instead of once or twice a month.  I no longer have to wear pads due to leakage and can even use my rebounder without peeing all over myself.  No more migraines.  No colds.  I have lots of energy and a awesome feeling of well being as soon as I open my eyes in the morning.  LOL...they'll have to pry LDN out of my cold dead hands when it's time for me to go.

NATREXONE  is definetly awesome stuff. I take 3mg at nite and my eyes are wide open and I am walking my dogs before 6 am. I am lucky though because I have NO chronic illnesses that LDN is so very useful for. And there are many. I take it for the endorphin kick and as a preventitive for so many chronic illnesses.
