I have followed developments in stem cell therapy for a decade and feel frustrated that the government is stifling the availability of autologous stem cell treatment, which is used successfully with race horses, pets and pampered athletes. I've recently injured my knee and will be facing arthroscopic surgery. Does anyone have any experience or wisdom to share relating to stem cell treatment for joint injuries?

Welcome to the Forums, greengenes.

It is easier to get approval for compounds for animal use, which explains its wider available in veterinary medicine.  It is my opinion that stem cells will be more widely used in humans in the future.

Yes, I understand why animals pave the way for human use of new procedures and drugs, but medical tourism for stem cell treatment is increasingly popular. I hope that recent efforts to capture some of the data will be successful.

I'd prefer to be treated at home and for my insurance company to cover it. It would certainly be cheaper than an artificial knee.   I have a small amount of arthritis in my knee, and looked into having autologous chondrocyte implantation to the articular surface, but learned that the cutoff age is 50. I don't know if that is because the treatment is ineffective for anyone older, or if the very limited type of stem cell treatment approved by the FDA means that it is not so useful for older people.

Under possible FDA control as they will be considered drugs? Strange to say the least, right? Is it for real?

Wouldn't it be nice to read about arthritic cures using only LEF products and /or other products from the LEF store.

I would suggest trying four LEF products:Super Omega-3 EPA/DHA,Krill Healthy Joint Formula,Genacol,ArthroMax Advanced with UC-II &ApresFlex.

I suggest these four products from my own successful experience.

I reported a very subjective success using UC-II. Agree with your list. Just curious: have you noticed any change (increase), after using Glucosamine-s (in the ArthroMax), in your fasting glucose or HbAc1? I recollect there is some controversy re this potential negative effect but if you results are good just keep going...

For your arthritis / joint dysfunction....worth a read. The only issue I see is patient compliance with taking 6 or more doses a day to achieve a steady state blood level.

In case your have missed it, there is an article in the Life Extension Magazine (Jan 2011):

http://www.lef.org/m...d-by-FDA_01.htm

I would be very interested to know about people who were treated, with or without success, and for which condition.
