Quantum entanglement applies only to particles which were created at the same time and in the same process.  The molecules of a cup of coffee and the molecules in the room were not created at the same time and process, so this hypothesis cannot be correct.  There is, however, a normal probability distribution of the temperature of molecules; outliers will move toward the mean--some molecules will give up heat, whereas others will gain heat.

Transpower, the author of this article I shared and several other things linked from that introduce the concept as if it were an explanation for the arrow of time in thermodynamics itself, the research supporting it also seem to try to advance the notion that quantum entanglement is a general principle throughout the universe and not just some unique instance of created particles.  I won't pretend to understand such things on any deeper level than that, but I remain intrigued at what is presented there.

DDye (4/3/2014)
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction; in this case: extropy.

Dear DDye,  This extropy is all fine and dandy except for one thing: Many if not most people do NOT embrace the principals discussed. Most especially right now religious fanatics and others who actively seek to harm and kill others who do not believe in their insane religion. Here is a short extract from your link:

Making effective use of a spontaneously ordering social system requires a degree of tolerance and self-restraint, allowing others to pursue their lives as they choose, just as we wish to be free to go our own way. Mutual progress and fulfillment will result from a cooperative and benevolent attitude towards all those who respect our rights. Tolerating diversity and disagreement requires us to maintain control of the impulses built into the human organism, and to uphold demanding standards of rational personal behavior. Extropians are guided in their actions by studying the fields of strategy, decision theory, game theory, and ethology. These reveal to us the benefits of cooperation, and encourage the long-term thinking appropriate to persons seeking an unlimited lifespan.

I do NOT buy into this tolerance crap. I refuse to tolerate people who hate and wish to kill me. For such a society to exist requires self defense. Or, as is the usual situation: People who wish to survive as discussed here rely on OTHERS to DEFEND them. In my opinion there is far too much tolerance at this time for moslem jihadists. In the past it was NAZIS and others. This is a reality EXTROPIANS can NOT ignore if they wish to simply survive.   ...Oscar

I will have to take your word for it.
