I feel that LEF should do more testing of his own suplements.

For example it would be interesting to study the effectiveness of LEFs Calorie Restriction mimetic capsules.

Even if the results are negative it would be interesting for us, consumers, to know the limitations of the products.

What do u think ?

Informal tests are possible and have been done with some of the supplements. Otherwise one is looking at a clinical trial.

The example you suggest would be a difficult one, since some of the benefits of CR are long term.

And what were the results of those informal tests ?

So far the tests on possible calorie restriction mimetics dont seem promising, if we trust wikipedia  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caloric_restriction_mimetic

Perhaps our expectations are unrealistic.

The information is proprietary.

"proprietary" , well there's a blow.

I've always contended that what LEF should do with its supplements is only measure their bio-availability, by plotting
the blood concentration vs. time. Also, the results should be parametrized over age and gender, etc.  This would be a relatively
inexpensive method of testing, and would not involve any physiological testing or medical claims.  The published results would
help us, the LEF customers, but also would ensure that the LEF supplements were picked for use in many clinical trials, because
those trials would be easier and more accurate - the trial results would have as an input the concentration level (uniform for the tested group),
not just the oral dose.

Have you looked at how much $$$ LEF gives to clinical research looking at anti aging, longevity, etc? It's public record. On testing their supplements. In some cases that might make sense, some it does not. For example, you find there's a lot of data supporting X compound for Y disease. You then find a high quality supplier of X, and use (hopefully) see it at doses use in the studies or there about if exact doses are unclear. The data for time/serum levels and other important info, exists for in the studies that prompted their being sold in the first place.

It is important to regularly test a product at a third party lab for consistent dose, etc. and that's part of QC.

That's what LEF does, and why I have used and recommend LEF for a long time. There's very little benefit to doing a clinical trial, that's very expensive, to confirm yet again the effect seen in prior studies.

There are indeed cases where say some specific formula or ingredients can benefit from additional research to be sure, and LEF is involved where it makes sense, but one has to pick carefully what, when, and where, and it's a cry slow process as a rule. LEF is constantly looking for improved versions of existing ingredients, improved delivery methods, etc.

I regard Life Extension the premium choice in supplements. LEF almost always offers the most superior formulas available. They seem very upfront and stand behind some very high quality control standards; utilizing the very best suppliers. Plus you get the benefit of knowing you are supporting them in their cause of advancing aging research, this is truly a mission and a cause for the principals of Life Extension, and they're seeking out the very best of what's available and putting it into the formulas that they themselves take daily.

If I could afford it, I would probably use LEF exclusively, and buy and use every single one of their recommended "daily dozen" (and will be doing so just as soon as I can afford to do so).

And, as to cost, Life Extension formulas often come out even more affordable than inferior counterparts sold in retail stores, especially during the Super Sale and most especially during their annual clearance when I really make sure to stock-up.
