Did you mean total cholesterol or just HDL?

I myself struggle with keeping my HDL levels up above the recommended 40 mg/dL. I was once diagnosed at dangerously low levels, but after much to correct my blood chemistry, am finally much much higher, yet still only in the upper 30 levels. It appears genetics may be my limiting factor.

Exercise, avoiding excess sugar, a heavy round of supplements including niacin, and a few small drinks of alcohol every week all work for me to keep that HDL "good" cholesterol better.
