LEF had a brief update today on Gut Flora Weight Gain Linked to Poor Gut Bacteria

I have low stomach acid (based on baking soda test) and surmise poor gut flora since I have trouble getting midsection fat off.  I have read eating naturally fermented foods and minimally washed veges is the only way to rebuild the gut flora.  How long does it take?  How many servings per day?

Welcome to the Forums, Dan.

Have not seen the same information concerning fermented foods and minimally washed vegetables being the only way to restore gut flora.  Some people use probiotic supplements, fresh yogurt and/or FOS, a "prebiotic," which encourages the growth of probiotics.

While poor gut bacteria is one potential cause of weight gain, there are many more possible reasons.  See http://www.lef.org/protocols/metabolic_health/obesity_01.htm for more information.

Thank you for the additional information.  I should add my HPA Axis is screwed up (on Cortex and T3 and Iron) with low iron and high reverse T3.  I was never obese until I was prescribed a drug that screwed up my metabolism.
